#280700 Assessment of Vision in Children By Lea Hyvärinen, MD A teaching CD including video demonstrations of screening & functional evaluation of normally sighted children & children with special needs.
Dear User of this CD, The videos that are used as an important part of teaching assessment of vision are difficult to copy from the Net. Therefore the most often used video sequences have been collected on this CD together with a copy of the Lea-Test's WebPage. This way the teaching materials are easily accessible also to those with slow or no Internet connections. When you open the CD, the Content shows the list of video sequences depicting different problems in assessment. They contain short texts describing each sequence; more lengthy discussions on the same subjects are in the lectures that are in the section "Assessment of Vision". These teaching materials have been used in teaching special teachers, therapists, orientation & mobility instructors, health care doctors & nurses, optometrists, ophthalmologists, paediatricians, paediatric neurologists, neuropsychologists, parents and early intervention teams for children with special needs. The goal of these teaching materials is to increase knowledge of visual function in children with different disorders and thus improve the programs in early intervention and special education. On the WebPages there is also general information on vision in "Eyes & Vision". In the Finnish part of the WebPage there are lectures on occupational health, which will be translated into English in 2003. The largest group of people with low vision in western countries, the elderly members of our societies, are discussed briefly in the "Eyes & Vision" section and in "Reading techniques". The main part of the information in the present CD is related to normal and low vision in children acknowledging the fact that low vision is a paediatric problem in developing countries.
