4. Introduction to the line testVisual acuity should be measured using a test with the symbols arranged in line, a line test. Such a test requires better fixation ability than is usually present at 23 months of age. The child looks at the first symbol on a line where the symbols are slightly larger than the symbols that she just saw when shown singly, answers correctly and then loses interest when she should look at the next symbol on the line - a typical behaviour at this age. She is now using her corrective glasses.
